Report #1 and Photos

Following is the message PCV Welcome Bisson sent on September 1, 2007, with the photos below.

On a surprisingly cool and drizzly morning, I received a call from Waan's daughter, Omijan, informing me that
I should come over to help build their hut. For the next 3 days, I worked with Waan, Omijan and many
neighbors to build their hut.

Prayong was unable to assist as much as he would have like because he had hurt his hand a few days prior,
but he was close at hand to provide guidance and to ensure that the hut was being built to the proper
specifications.

After working in the rain, heat and mud, a beautiful mushroom hut was born. Throughout the 3 days, I had
many opportunities to speak with Omijan and Waan about what they hope growing and selling mushrooms will
do for them. They were excited talking about the possibility of building a new home and for Omijan and her
boyfriend of 7 years to get married.

Selfishly, I have to admit that it was a wonderful experience for me. It was great to get dirty and be physically
exhausted every day, in a much different way than I get from teaching English.
